Global warming debate - Ventura County Star

Re: your Aug. 20 article, “Study ties storm increase to global warming”:

Thank you for opening the debate on global warming. By placing the article on the front page, it’s nice to see that The Star is acknowledging that a problem exists and that this discussion will evoke much more participation among the readership.

However, one of the studies cited by the article is misleading. “Global Warming’s Six Americas” uses loaded words. Opponents of human-induced global warming would not call themselves “disengaged,” “dismissive” or “doubtful.”

These words connote a negative image,and they should have been explained more plainly. For example, those who are “doubtful” feel that not enough evidence exists to support it.
