It seems that we are having a melt down here in Idaho, but we aren’t the only ones. There have been record temperatures across the US since Summer began. This isn’t a fluke, a one time only event. Look at how much temperatures have risen since the seventies. Global Warming isn’t just a rumor, it is actually happening now. While there are naysayers that say it isn’t happening, the facts outweigh them.
There are many people who also blame this state of affairs on greenhouse gases, emitted by humans. It is certain that in the last few hundred years, since the industrial revolution, we have put a lot of toxins in our atmosphere, probably more that in a thousand years before. However, you can’t blame everything on us, there are many contributing factors to climate change. If you look back on history, climate change is a regular occurrence, and while we may have contributed to speeding up the process, it is inevitable. The difference now is that we are much smarter, have tools and technology, so we are able to measure and calculate climate change.
In the next few weeks, I will be writing about things you can do to reduce your own carbon footprint on the environment. Some may say that is too late, but while in some cases this may be true, it still makes a difference, and the more people that reduce their carbon footprint, the more time we may have.
